PAS welcomes three new trustees

Parenting Across Scotland is delighted to introduce three new trustees who were all appointed to the PAS Board at our AGM in August.

Cherie Morgan is Director of Projects at Play Scotland. She is currently on the Board of Play Midlothian, the International Play Association (Scotland) and Fields in Trust (Scotland). Cherie led on the first two Play Sufficiency Assessments undertaken in Scotland and has developed guidance for the sector. As a partner in the development of the Place Standard tools for children and for young people, she has wide expertise in engaging with children, young people and families to ensure their views are taken into account when developing plans.

On her appointment to the PAS Board, Cherie said;

‘It is a privilege to join Parenting Across Scotland as a Trustee. I am excited to bring my knowledge of charity governance, strategy development and social policy to support the organisation’s vital role in shaping services and advocating for parents, to ensure families across Scotland feel supported and empowered.’

Lyndsay Fraser Robertson is Programmes and Practice Officer at The Robertson Trust, leading the Work and Education Pathways thematic work with a focus on systems change projects addressing in-work poverty. With a background spanning frontline family support, national policy development, and participatory practice, Lyndsay brings a deep understanding of the structural issues affecting children and families. She is particularly skilled in integrating lived experience into strategy and decision-making, and in fostering cross-sector collaboration to influence national policy.

Lyndsay shared the following thoughts on joining the PAS Board;

"I’m honoured to be joining Parenting Across Scotland as a Trustee at a time of real opportunity and change — both for the organisation and for Scotland. Improving family life and the services that support families is at the heart of my work and values. I’m passionate about ensuring that families’ voices shape the systems and decisions that affect them, and PAS represents a powerful advocate in making that happen. I’m excited to support its mission to build a fairer, more compassionate Scotland where every child and family can thrive."

Lauren Toal has spent over a decade in Sales and Commercial Leadership, where her curiosity, energy, and strategic thinking have helped businesses identify what’s working, fix what isn’t, and unlock new opportunities. As a working mum of two, Lauren is passionate about championing stronger parental rights and creating fairer opportunities for all children, ensuring every child has the same opportunities to thrive, free from barriers or discrimination. Growing up in a single-parent household, and as a disabled and neurodivergent parent herself, she understands the barriers many families face and the difference the right support can make. She brings both professional expertise and lived experience to the Board, driven by a belief that when parents are supported, children - and society as a whole - can flourish.

Lauren responded to joining the PAS Board with the following words;

" Becoming a Trustee with Parenting Across Scotland means so much to me personally. As a mum of two young children, I know first-hand the exhaustion, the financial strain, and the constant pressure of wanting to give your kids the very best. I’ve felt the weight of childcare challenges, budgeting worries, and the fear of your child missing out - and I know so many parents across Scotland feel the same. That’s why I’m so passionate about this role. I want to use my voice and my experience to push for real change, so parents feel supported and every child has the chance to flourish, no matter their background or circumstances."

As we welcome Cherie, Lyndsay and Lauren to our Board we say goodbye and grateful thanks to Sarah Rogers-Barbosa and Shilla Shomai who both stood down as Trustees at the AGM. We wish them all the best for the future.
