House of Hormones

We've all heard of puberty and perimenopause – but how much do we actually know about them, the similarities and the implications of these on household dynamics. Enter the House of Hormones!

In 2025, Parenting Across Scotland teamed up with the wonderful team at Cyrenians Scottish Centre for Conflict Resolution and Workplace Menopause Support to host a one-off Fringe event to explore household dynamics when different generations are going through puberty and perimenopause at the same time. Following the success of this show, we have continued to run the session online and in other settings.

In the 90 minute session, we break down what's going on in perimenopausal and teenage bodies and brains so you can better control the hot and cold mood changes and how to return the House of Hormones to peace.

Some feedback from the attendees includes:

  • "An important subject presented in a really accessible way"
  • "It was a warm embrace of a show rather than a dry look at two sometimes difficult topics"
  • "The balance of theory, practical advice and humour"
