Seminar conclusions
Like any evidence review or research, it raises as many questions as answers: family shape is changing but are we asking the right questions?
The findings have implications for policy makers and services providers in the public and the voluntary sectors. They also have implications for employers.
The report identifies gaps in data (because we do not collect it) and lack of evidence (because the data has not been analysed yet). Some of the gaps are about families which we know are vulnerable and are likely to require additional support, such as blended families; families affected by imprisonment and those affected by relationship breakdown.
We need to find ways of filling these gaps to ensure we have the evidence we need to offer and provide support. PAS plans to continue with this work and to see what more it can tell us.
