Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA)

The SQA is responsible for ensuring that the qualifications that your child gains from school meet standards that are recognised by employers, colleges and universities. They work with Education Scotland on the school curriculum to make sure that students are prepared for assessments.

National 5, Higher and Advanced Higher courses are assessed by SQA. National 1-4 courses are assessed by your child's teacher through coursework. Certificates are also issued by the SQA.

If your child is studying for the National 5 or Higher qualifications, they can make use of the sample and past exam papers on the SQA website.
