Working with families to influence Government policy

Parenting across Scotland works to make sure that parents have a voice at policy-making and decision-making levels in Scotland.

Our partners work with tens of thousands of parents and families throughout Scotland. We use our partners' knowledge and experience of working with families to inform decision-makers about what matters to parents and families.

Our policy work includes:

  • monitoring public policy and its implementation
  • responding to government consultations on issues which affect parents and families
  • lobbying Scottish Government about family matters
  • sitting on Scottish Government working groups to represent the concerns of parents and families
  • influencing officials at local and Scottish level.

Early Years Framework

In 2008-9, much of our policy work focussed on the Scottish Government's Early Years Framework. This framework is about giving all our children the best start in life and the steps the Scottish Government, local partners and practitioners in early years services need to refocus resources on the early years.
