Congenital heart disease affects about 1 in every 145 births.
With some conditions it is discovered during pregnancy, with others
not until the child is older or grown up. Some heart conditions are
minor, others are serious and may require an operation. The British
Heart Foundation has a wide range of publications and other
resources for parents.
